Original Penguin Donkey

Product Code: GT2101
A classic piece furniture to store your own book collection, the starting point for any modest library.
Designed in the 1930's by Ergon Riss. When originally created in the 1930s the book donkey was predicted to be a best seller but sales were thwarted by the onset of war and original 1930s versions are very rare with only about 100 being made. It is called a book Donkey because it had four legs and two panniers. The publisher of the new Penguin paperbacks at the time, Allen Lane liked the item so much that with every penguin book that was sold he inserted a leaflet for the Isokon Book donkey and afterwards it became known as the Penguin Book donkey
